Maria is 12 years old. She wakes up every morning before sunrise in a small one-room house she shares with her grandmother and two younger siblings. Her grandmother works long hours digging farms for neighbors, earning just enough food for the day.
Maria loves school.
She loves mathematics. She loves reading stories about strong women who changed the world. She dreams of becoming a teacher one day — “so I can help children like me,” she says softly.
But last term, Maria stopped attending school.
Not because she didn’t want to learn.
Not because she wasn’t capable.
She stopped because she had no exercise books. No pen. Her uniform was torn. She felt ashamed sitting in class while other children wrote notes she could not copy.
One day, she told her mother, “Maybe school is not for people like us.”
That is the moment this initiative exists for.
Through the Go Back to School Initiative, Maria received a school bag filled with books, pens, and a new uniform. The first day she returned to school, she held her bag tightly and smiled the entire walk.
Her teacher later said,
“Maria is one of the brightest students in class. She just needed a chance.”
Today, Maria is back in school — answering questions confidently, helping her classmates, and once again believing that her dream matters.
How You Can Help?
We are looking for supporters, who will donate to this project to help move it forward. We look for people with the desire to sponsor students for a year/years. Sponsorship can cost $660 or $55/month. This following materials like books, pens, bags/ backpackers, sets among many others . These scholastic materials play a critical role in determining student academic outcomes, hence creating an environment that motivates teachers as well as interesting students to stay in school and develop excellent academic attributes.
