How would you feel if you were homeless? How would you endure watching your family (children) having no-where to sleep and where to call home?  Knowing that you can’t do anything about it but only hope and pray that one-day some-one comes for the rescue? These are the questions that we keep on asking ourselves when we come across homeless families. Our societies are characterized by different categories of vulnerable people most of which have no roof under their heads while others stay in mud-damaged houses that threaten their lives and others use trees as their shelter.  JK Arms for charity foundation has long been attracted to the well-being of children hence we care about where they live and how they live. We believe that they deserve a place to call home, a place that can ensure their safety and protection.

JK Arms for charity foundation has been an answered prayer to more than 50 families experiencing poor shelter in the rural villages of greater Masaka region, through providing temporary solutions like;

• Providing water proof tarpaulins to families with damaged roof. These act as cover roofs to damaged roof thatched houses. Unlike the wealth/rich families in the towns that build their houses with metal roofs, metal doors and clay bricks, the poorest down in the villages use local mud walls and thatches as roofs. Considering that a thatch is a low-cost material, its durability is also weak and requires continuous replacement. Yet again considering a person who cannot afford a single day meal, they are left with no option but to suffer with water leakage when it rains. Hence, we temporarily provide tarpaulins to help them cope with the changing weather conditions.

• We also perform simple house renovations to damaged houses of these families however, this service is currently directed to houses of single mothers and child headed houses/orphans

• Where conditions are worse, for example to families that use trees as their shelter we provide temporary housing to the victims and sometimes permanent shelter depending on the funds at hand and the conditions prevailing.
